Arsenal reject Donyell Malen nets FIVE for PSV as Monreal, Mkhitaryan and Nketiah all score while former club draw at Watford

ARSENAL reject Donyell Malen left the Gunners ruing what might have been after scoring all five for PSV this weekend - as his former side could only manage a 2-2 draw at Watford.

The Dutch striker, 20, obliterated Vitesse Arnhem's defence with a stunning performance up front.

He opened the scoring after 18 minutes before adding further strikes ten minutes before half-time and immediately after the break.

Malen then completed the 5-0 rout with two penalties in the final seven minutes.

The result still leaves Mark van Bommel's side behind Ajax on goal difference at the top of the Eredivisie, with four wins and a draw so far this season.

It takes the forward's total to ten this season, which included a goal on his senior Netherlands debut against Germany this month.

Malen was part of Arsenal's academy between 2015 and 2017.

But he was somehow allowed to return to his homeland as the Gunners sold him to PSV, despite impressing plenty at the club including Arsene Wenger.

After half a season with the Jong PSV youth team, the Dutch sensation broke into the senior side in February 2018.

He made 37 first-team appearances last season - including against Barcelona and finalists Tottenham in the Champions League - scoring ten goals.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS

And it wasn't just Malen that left Arsenal looking a little sheepish this weekend.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored on his Roma debut after moving to the Italian side on loan.

He fired home a fine finish with his left foot to put the Serie A side 3-0 in front against Sassuolo.

And ex-Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal was on the scoresheet on his first outing for Real Sociedad, reacting first to poke past Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak and secure a 2-0 win, ending Atleti's 100 per cent La Liga record.

Finally, Eddie Nketiah continued his fine start to the season.

The youngster is spending the year on loan at Leeds and made it four goals in six matches as he netted the first in the Yorkshire derby victory over Barnsley.

But while ex-players and loanees were banging in the goals, Unai Emery still has plenty of thinking to do after the draw at Vicarage Road.

Despite going in at half-time 2-0 in front thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's double, blunders from Sokratis and David Luiz gifted the home side a point.

Watford managed an incredible 31 shots, the most Arsenal have conceded in a match since data collection started in 2003.

It also means Arsenal have now faced the most shots of any club in Europe's top five leagues with a staggering 96, three more than Norwich with Spurs third on 82.
