Marcus Rashford shows caring side as striker sorts Man Utd tickets for American fan who beat cancer
MARCUS RASHFORD was hailed by fans for helping sort Manchester United tickets for an American fan who has beaten cancer.
The 21-year-old academy star came across dad-of-two John on Twitter - who was desperate to watch his beloved Red Devils for the first time.
User Matt Waymont posted a public plea writing: "My legendary USA friend, John, has beaten stage 3 cancer! He’s a lifelong Man Utd fan but has never been to England or Old Trafford.
"We raised enough ££ to get him to UK but need help getting him to a match! Man U vs Brighton is our aim!"
United stars Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba were also tagged in the tweet, with both known for acts of kindness towards fans.
England International Lingard, 26, stunned a bunch of school kids in his home town of Warrington by buying them ice cream back in February.
This came a month after paying a group of Wimbledon fans £600 of his own money after missing a penalty on Sky's Soccer AM show.
And World Cup winner Pogba, 26, led the tributes to a young fan on who had died from a rare form of cancer earlier this year.
But it was Rashford who noticed Matt's tweet first, and the striker replied: "Hey man, drop me a DM. I’ll sort this for you."
Fans were then quick to shower the United star with compliments for his generosity, with one writing: "Top man Rashy."
Another said: "That's class Marcus. What a guy, never change. Stay humble."
A third added: "Class from Rashy. The world needs more people like you."
Another comment read: "You're a credit to this club."
Rashford earned similar praise for his touching post to former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique following the tragic news that his daughter had died from cancer.
The match he has now sorted tickets for, which will see Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's side host Brighton at Old Trafford on November 10 , promises to be a good one for John's inaugural game in Manchester.
When the two sides met at the Theatre of Dreams in January, it was goals from Pogba and Rashford, two of the stars tagged in the original post, that secured a 2-1 win.
