Mason Greenwood set for second senior Man Utd start in Europa League against Astana as Solskjaer looks to pick more youngsters
MASON GREENWOOD is set for his second senior Manchester United start in tomorrow’s Europa League opener.
The striker will get his chance against Kazakhstan side Astana.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is concerned about his side’s lack of firepower.
It is even more evident after Romelu Lukaku was sold and Alexis Sanchez sent out on loan to Inter Milan.
United have scored once in each of their last four games, securing just one win, at home to Leicester on Saturday.
It is the ideal chance for Greenwood, who turns 18 in a fortnight, to shine.
The youngster has come on as sub in four of United’s Prem matches.
It is that lack of a real poacher in the box that is worrying Solskjaer, and he believes Greenwood could be the answer.
He scored 30 goals in 29 games for Academy teams last season.
Juan Mata certainly believes Greenwood is ready for the step-up.
He said: “Mason is a very good finisher, both feet. You can’t really tell if he’s right-footed or left-footed, which is a very good quality for a striker.”
