FRENKIE DE JONG made a mistake in liking an Instagram post demanding for Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde to be sacked after their dismal Champions League showing against Borussia Dortmund.

The Dutch starlet almost instantly unliked the comment that read "#ValverdeOut" but it was too late for fans to share around following the 0-0 draw.

Barcelona continued their mixed start to the season with a point away at Dortmund on Tuesday, where they were indebted to Marc Andre ter Stegen for saving a penalty from Marco Reus.

The Catalans, who are marooned in fifth place in La Liga after just two wins, even threw on Lionel Messi for his first appearance of the season.

But the Argentine superstar couldn't inspire a weak Barca display and fans were quick to clamour for Valverde to be given the chop.

De Jong soon caused waves for liking such a post, but such actions were almost certainly a mistake considering how quickly he then undid it.

While the Holland International may not be calling for his manager's removal, Valverde has faced rumours of his demise since last season.

Speaking after their latest slip up, the former Athletic Bilbao boss said, via  "The result is what it is.

"We suffered a lot and you have to admit that. They arrived with more danger and we were missing some depth in the last few metres.

"They had the penalty, they hit the post. They are very strong at home, this is starting and it was a tough match for us.

"There were some moments when we lost the ball in important zones and they got three or four counters and it complicated things for us, but Marc was really good.

"And while we dominated the end of the game, we hardly had any chances."
