WINNING ELEVEN

Premier League fantasy football: Who makes our team of the season so far?

We’re at that annoying stage in October when, once again, we have to take a break from the Premier League for another round of international football.

It’s just not fair, is it?

Still, this momentary pause from the Prem and all the fantasy football goodness that goes along with it gives us a good chance to evaluate which players have stood out so far.

Premier League fantasy football: Who makes our team of the season so far?

So this lot would set you back a cool £56.3m, which is just over your allocated budget.

Predictably, it’s jam-packed with the usual suspects from table-toppers Liverpool and Man City – including Mo Salah and Sergio Aguero – but there’s also the likes of Calum Chambers and high-scoring Tammy Abraham in there, too.

Goalkeeper:

It’s not exactly been a vintage season so far for goalkeeping, with Alisson Becker’s opening day injury robbing us of perhaps the best keeper on fantasy football.

Lloris’ horror-injury at the weekend will also see another big name shot-stopper spend a considerable amount of time on the sidelines.

So almost by default, Man City’s Ederson is some way out in front as the best No.1 at the moment.

Defence:

Wolves’ Willy Boly has been one of the surprise stars of the season so far, with his dramatic late winner against Besiktas in the Europa League perhaps his crowning achievement.

It’s business as usual for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who’s surely one of the finest young full-backs around right now, while Calum Chambers’ has impressed for Arsenal this season and was faultless in their win over Bournemouth at the weekend.

Midfield:

It’s a sea of blue in our midfield, with Man City men Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez taking up three spots alongside Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.

Sterling is currently best points scorer on Dream Team, while KDB leads the way in assists with an eye-catching eight so far.

Mane’s five goals makes him Liverpool’s top goalscorer in the Premier League.

Attack:

Teemu Pukki was the surprise name in our best XI back in September, but a barren run since Norwich’s win over Man City has seen him drop out of the running in place of Tammy Abraham.

Eight goals in the Prem for the Chelsea youngster puts him joint-top alongside Aguero, while Salah – who’s been picked by over 50% of Dream Team managers this season – continues to be one of the best players you can choose.
