Fantasy football: 5 strikers you can sign to replace Sergio Aguero in your team
- Sergio Aguero could be out for two months after car crash in Holland
- Who are the best fantasy football striker alternatives out there?
Manchester City striker and favourite Sergio Aguero looks set to miss the next TWO MONTHS through injury .
The Argentinian was attending a concert in Amsterdam on Thursday night and was seemingly on his way to the airport when the taxi he was in collided with a pole.
Early reports suggest the forward escaped the accident with broken ribs, and was saved further injury because he was wearing a seatbelt.
The news is a devastating blow to City’s Premier League title hopes, with Pep Guardiola's side currently top of the table on goal difference ahead of bitter rivals United.
Aguero has been in blistering form, bagging six league goals so far this season, including his 10th City hat-trick at Watford two weeks ago.
With Aguero facing a long spell on the sidelines, that leaves 25% of managers with a big decision to make – how do you replace him?
5 strikers you can sign to replace Sergio Aguero
1 Romelu Lukaku - £7.0m
You don't have to look very far to find a viable alternative.
Manchester United have enjoyed a season that's almost equally as good as City's, with only goal-difference separating the neighbours at the top of the table.
And like Aguero, Lukaku has scored six times in the Premier League this season, having scored in all but one of the games he's played for United so far.
He's currently the second-highest points scorer on (we'll talk about who's top later) with 77 points, and is £0.3m cheaper than Aguero.
What's more, United face struggling Crystal Palace this weekend, so we like the Belgian's chances of grabbing a goal or three to start you off.
2 Alvaro Morata - £5.9m
Chelsea's newest hero made all of the headlines midweek when he became the first player to score against Atletico Madrid at their new stadium.
We're sure the former Real Madrid boy loved that, right?
All-in-all, the Spaniard has enjoyed a great start to life with the title-holders, scoring seven goals in total including a hat-trick against Stoke last weekend.
He already looks very settled in his new surroundings and is surely a strong contender for this season's Golden Boot award.
If that wasn't enough to convince you, he's also significantly cheaper than Aguero - so if you did swap the crocked City striker for Morata - you'd even end up with some change left over.
3 Gabriel Jesus - £5.9m
Many of us suspected Guardiola would opt for Jesus ahead of Aguero as a lone-striker for City this season, but the Spaniard found room for them both in a two-man attack.
And it worked a treat, with the pair seemingly forming a good understanding as they devastated the likes of Liverpool, Feyenoord, West Brom, Watford and Crystal Palace in recent weeks.
But Aguero's injury means Jesus will have to make-do with being the spearhead of City's attack, which is something he's more than capable of.
With the added goalscoring responsibility, we wouldn't be surprised to see the young Brazilian flourish in the role and continue his club's sensational run.
4 Alexandre Lacazette - £4.9m
Perhaps a left-field option considering his quiet start to life in the Premier League, Lacazette has seemingly taken his time to familiarise himself at his new club.
But fours goals so far this season - including both in Monday's 2-0 win over West Brom - means he's just behind some of the league's top goal scorers.
With Arsenal up against Brighton at the Emirates this weekend, he'll be looking to add to his 29 points tally on Dream Team.
5 Harry Kane - £8.6m
From left-field to bleedin' obvious, Kane is by-far the most expansive player on this list and even trumps Aguero by £1.3m on .
But you get what you pay for, with Kane currently TOP of Dream Team's points tally with a staggering 91 points.
Considering he was on just seven points this time last month, the Spurs striker is the league's form man, scoring FIVE goals in the last Gameweek alone.
If you're worried about missing out on Aguero's goals, then look no further.
