So when it comes to fantasy football, we want to be packing our Dream Team line-up with world class talent across the board.

But unfortunately, there's always the odd surprise flop at a major tournament.

And so far, Russia 2018 has been all about surprises and big-name flops, hasn't it?

So let's have a little look at the best players at the World Cup who've been absolutely rubbish so far.

David De Gea (2 points)

Best goalkeeper in the world?

Well, judging from De Gea's display at the World Cup so far, we'd say no.

Man United's trusted shot-stopper has looked a little light-weight in Russia, making costly errors in Spain's opening 3-3 draw with Portugal, while his distribution and ability from crosses was criticised in their draw with Morocco.

Saying that, we bet Real Madrid would still love to sign him this summer.

Willian is arguably one of the best players to grace the Premier League at the moment and was probably one of the few shining lights from Chelsea's relatively poor season.

However, it's been a different story for him in Russia.

Starting in all three of Brazil's group games, the winger has struggled for points and is undoubtedly a big fish in a huge pond with the national team.

Ousmane Dembele (0 points)

The last 12 months have not been kind to young Dembele.

Barcelona made him one of the most expensive players of all-time when they signed him for Dortmund a year ago, but an injury-hit campaign and a struggle for good form means he's probably quite lucky to be at the World Cup as a part of France's star-studded squad.

So far, he, along with Antoine Griezmann and Thomas Lemar, have failed to combine well in their tasty-looking attack.

Joshua Kimmich (-1 points)

We were absolutely raving about Germany's squad before the tournament got underway.

After all, Die Mannschaft were the reigning champions and boasted the likes of Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira and Thomas Muller in their team.

What's more, Kimmich - arguably the team's biggest young talent - failed to show us the kind of form we've seen from him at Bayern this season.

Blaise Matuidi (-1 points)

France are another team well-stocked in every area, but have ultimately failed to impress at the World Cup so far.

And that's saying something, considering they finished top of Group C.

Their lack of oomph in attack and midfield has been a genuine problem, and  saw them struggle past the likes of Australia, Peru and Denmark in their group.

Kalidou Koulibaly (-1 points)

Largely considered one of the best defenders in Serie A, we were really looking forward to seeing Koulibaly run things at the back for Senegal.

But conceding three goals in two games so far has not done anything for his points-tally.

Wojciech Szczesny (-3 points)

Arsenal fans will laughing hard at us for calling him 'fantastic', but you've gotta remember that Szczesny is shaping up to be Gianlugi Buffon's successor between the sticks at Juventus next season.

Let's hope the decision-makers in Turin aren't watching Poland's games in Russia then, eh?

Because the goalie has done very little to help Poland do anything more than miss out on the second-round, and in fact he was probably the main-man to blame for Senegal's second goal in their 2-1 group game defeat.
