Fantasy football tips: Ruben Neves has been criminally under-selected

The Wolves star has been overlooked by far too many managers

The first week of the Premier League was full of surprises for you fantasy football managers.

Roberto Pereyra was the joint top scorer with Sadio Mane on 18 points, Ruben Neves earned 5.7% of managers a tasty 15 points and Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang managed a cumulative total of -2 points.

We're glad it's back.

With many World Cup stars still getting back in shape after their summer breaks, this weekend was all about the mid-table clubs bringing in the points.

And even so, one of the cheapest game-changers on fantasy football has been criminally under-selected.

That's right, Wolves midfield star Ruben Neves has been overlooked by far too many managers.

Neves was key in driving Wolves out of the Championship and into the Premier League's hallowed turf last season with some sumptuous individual performances and scoring absolute worldies.

He impressed in the opening game against Everton with a delightful free-kick and an assist for Raul Jimenez.

And ended up finishing the week as the second highest scorer on the game with 15 points

If Wolves perform anywhere near the level they are expected, and Neves continues his form from last season, expect to see double figures a regular occurrence for the Portuguese star.

Neves costs just £3m, a bargain for a player that will be orchestrating Wolves' attacks and taking set-pieces.

He's cheaper than Christian Eriksen, Paul Pogba, David Silva, Mesut Ozil, Dele Alli, the list goes on.

However, the 21-year-old  has only been selected by 5.8% of managers, despite already picking up 15 points in a single game.

More managers have inexplicably selected defensive midfielders N'Golo Kante and Jorginho, Xherdan Shaqiri, Fred, Marko Arnautovic and Riyad Mahrez.

There's players in that list who are very unlikely to score points and others who aren't certain of a place in the first team.

With Neves you get value, assists, goals and you can guarantee he's one of the first names on Nuno Espirito Santo's teamsheet.

You have been warned.
