Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka angrily shoved by Brighton assistant Colin Calderwood at full-time in Championship promotion decider
MIDDLESBROUGH boss Aitor Karanka appeared to be shoved by Brighton assistant
manager Colin Calderwood at the end of a stormy promotion decider at the
Riverside.
The Spaniard had turned after shaking hands with Seagulls chief Chris Hughton
when Calderwood stormed through.
Karanka quickly turned round and was seen on camera pointing a hand at the
ex-Spurs defender.
Hughton, whose side will have to go through the play-offs to get in the
Premier League, then gestured to calm Karanka down before they shook hands
again.
Christhian
Stuani put Boro ahead before Dale Stephens levelled only to then be sent
off for a horror tackle on Gaston Ramirez.
But with the £170million jackpot achieved, Karanka actually apologised to fans
- only to then say he could not be more proud.

He said: "It is impossible to say anything today - I apologise for two
years and a half and later everthing has changed.
"You can't be more proud of this group of players, this crowd, this
chairman.
"I said before to be in the Premier League and they are the reason. I
want to say thank you again because it is amazing for me.
"When you can achieve something like this in difficult moments it makes
it even better.
"They thought I was crazy when I said my aim was to put this club in the
Premier League but two and a half years later we are where we deserve to be.
"We knew it was going to be difficult. Brighton and Burnley have been
really good.
"But this is more than deserved for us."
Fans hit out at Calderwood after his childish full-time display.
Mark Farrell posted: "Poor showing from Colin Calderwood today. Grow up."
Ross Brady said: "Congratulations Boro! Back in the big time. Pretty
classless showing from Colin Calderwood acting like a kid at the end there."
And Richard Moir said: "Colin Calderwood is a baby for pushing Karanka at
end of game. Bye bye Colin mate."
