ROY KEANE says Marouane Fellaini has been made the scapegoat for Manchester United’s recent failings.
The Republic of Ireland No 2 faces the Belgium midfielder in Bordeaux tomorrow — and blamed his struggles on his Old Trafford team-mates.
Fellaini was David Moyes’ big £27.5million signing from Everton in September 2013 but fans were soon on his back as things turned sour for the new boss.
Reds legend Keane said: “The criticism he’s had — he’s more of a scapegoat than anything else.
"If anything, the fans should have been criticising the experienced players at United who weren’t helping him out or the new manager.”
Keane said in February he would have kicked Belgium skipper Eden Hazard in training if they were team-mates, after he tried to leave Chelsea.
And he had not changed his tune ahead of today’s big Group E clash.

He said: “I’ve done that with most players — even lads who do not want to leave.
“But he is a talented boy and we are going to have to keep an eye on him.”
