Germany's record-breaking midfielder is engaged to Serbian tennis sensation Ana Ivanovic after a two-year romance

MANCHESTER UNITED fans should go easy of midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for plodding around Old Trafford last season as he was probably worn out from his relationship with today’s Beautiful Game Wag.

The Germany star is dating tennis ace Ana Ivanovic and is engaged to wed the world No16.

The 28-year-old Serb smasher has been hitting it off with the former Bayern Munich man, 31, for two years now.

The heavy-hitting sportswoman is still getting regular proposals from oddballs she has never met.

But she dismissed the advances as her man Schweinsteiger has the advantage over all the others.

She said: “It’s hard to have a proper boyfriend. I know the men who contact me asking to marry don’t mean anything by it.”

The midfielder injured his knee in March and needed a brace on the joint.

But he jetted off to spend time with his partner who was competing in the Madrid Open instead of nursing his problem in rainy Manchester.

The recovery planned worked, however, as he returned in time to make history for his national side.

When he came off the bench during the 1-0 win over Northern Ireland he broke the record for the most appearances for Germany at the European Championships.

His sub appearance in the final group game was his 15th championship cap for the Nationalmannschaft, surpassing former captain Philipp Lahm's tally of 14.
