Yes, you read that correctly, that Old Trafford flop Nani, whose career at the Premier League side ended with a whimper when he was shipped off to Fenerbahce after a loan spell at former club Sporting.

Turkey's Dogan News Agency have claimed today that Mourinho is leading the charge to re-sign the winger.

The report continues that Nani has an €8m (£5.5m) release clause in his contract with Fenerbahce.

Nani originally signed for United for £18m from Sporting in 2007, and although he made a promising start, he would see first-team opportunities become scarcer in his final three seasons at the club before joining Fenerbahce permanently in July 2015.

Mourinho made his first signing as United manager yesterday, signing Villarreal defender Eric Bailly for a reported £30m.

The manager Mourinho said: "Eric is a young central defender with great natural talent. He has progressed well to date and has the potential to become one of the best around.

"We look forward to working with him to help nurture that raw talent and fulfil his potential. Eric is at the right club to continue his development."
