Dier up higher

Eric Dier soars on flyboard as he puts England’s Euro 2016 misery behind him on holiday

The Spurs star joked he fell off after this picture was taken

ERIC DIER was soaring high on holiday as he tried out flyboarding to put England's Euro 2016 disappointment behind him.

The Tottenham midfielder posted a picture of himself balancing up high on the platform, which is connected to a turbine that fires out water to send users flying above the ocean.

But, like England's Euro 2016 campaign, the 22-year-old star didn't last very long.

Taking to his Instagram account, where he shared the pic, he wrote: "And fall", followed by a laughing emoji.

Dier is taking a well-deserved rest from football after starring for Spurs last season and starting all of England's Euros games - 62 appearances in all competitions.

The star's flyboard fun had some of his Instagram followers in awe, but others were concerned he might pick up an injury ahead of Tottenham's opening day trip to Everton on August 13.

But some preferred to troll the England midfielder after the Three Lions went crashing out of Euro 2016 to Iceland 2-1 at the Round of 16 stage.

Dier's latest sporting exploits come a day after former Germany legend Lothar Matthaus called for the Spurs star to be the new England captain in his column for The Sun.

He wrote: "I feel Eric Dier has to be the England skipper.

"He showed in the Euros he is the team’s new leader. And the Spurs midfielder demonstrated he can be the heartbeat of the side in a key position on the pitch.

"He can take a free-kick, as he showed against Russia, but what was more important was the tactical and mental leadership.

"He is able to bring control and balance."

Dier has been getting out and about since England's exit and was spotted at Wimbledon clutching a bag of Haribo sweets while watching Andy Murray last week.
