Thierry Henry to continue coaching away from Arsenal with Watford and West Ham keen
Gunners legend was given an ultimatum by boss Arsene Wenger and told to choose between club and TV work
THIERRY HENRY will resume his coaching career away from Arsenal after being shown the door by Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners legend has received offers from a number of Premier League clubs to work at youth level next season.
West Ham and Watford are believed to be among those prepared to allow Henry to continue coaching while working as a pundit for Sky Sports.
And Henry is determined to gain his UEFA Pro licence which will enable him to become a top-flight manager next year.
He tweeted last night : “I would like to thank Andries Jonker for offering me the chance to coach the U-18s at Arsenal, which I was honoured to accept.
“However, I respect Arsène Wenger's decision and I want to wish their manager Kwame Ampadu, the boys and everyone at the club all the best for the forthcoming season.”
Henry was offered a six-figure salary by academy head Jonker to become assistant coach to Arsenal’s Under-18 team.
But the decision was overruled at the end of last season by Wenger, who insisted that the club’s record goalscorer could not work for the club while still employed by Sky.
Henry scooped two Prem titles and three FA Cups in eight-plus years, split over two stints, in which he notched up 228 goals in 376 appearances - earning him a statue outside the Emirates.
Fellow Gunners legend Tony Adams recently agreed to a post that would have involved working alongside Henry as an assistant coach with the club's academy.
