SUNDERLAND do NOT plan to sack David Moyes – even if they lose on Saturday at Bournemouth.

The Black Cats boss has come under fire from supporters after overseeing the worst ten-game start to a season in Premier League history.

But owner Ellis Short and chief executive Martin Bain remain determined to give manager Moyes time to turn things around - and have told him as much.

The Scot, 53, was seen as a long-term appointment to rebuild the crisis club, which is why he was handed a four-year contract when he replaced Sam Allardyce in July.

And despite rock-bottom Sunderland’s worrying winless start, Short still has no appetite for another quick-fire managerial change.

Moyes, though, while buoyed from his board’s backing, knows he needs an upturn in results to get fans back on side and avoid his position from becoming untenable.

He is looking to end a run of four straight defeats in all competitions at the Vitality Stadium - although he is banned from the touchline for that match.

And then, after the international break, Moyes hosts Hull, who are bossed by Mike Phelan - the coach he got rid of at Manchester United.
