Mesut Ozil to Real Madrid: German fuels transfer rumours by praising “idol” Zinedine Zidane After refusing to rule out a return to the Bernabeu

MESUT OZIL has continued his praise French legend Zinedine Zidane with words that will only add fuel to the transfer rumours surrounding the German playmaker.

The ex-Madridista referred to the club's manager as his 'idol' just days after refusing to rule out a return to Spanish giants.

Ozil joined Real Madrid in 2010 after a stunning World Cup performance and spent three years there under Jose Mourinho but left for north London is 2013.

Ozil has impressed during his time at the Emirates, leading him to be linked with a move back to Madrid.

While praising the Madrid boss he said: "He was not selfish. He scored, but he also made assists. He was a leader."

Ozil also admitted he occasionally misses living in Spain and still has 'great memories' from his time at the Bernabeu.
He said:  "I tell you, I have great memories from there, with the club, the city, people....sometimes you stop and think and well, you can miss it.

"Now I am happy at Arsenal, but you never know what can happen in the future. We will see."

The Gunners take on West ham at the London Stadium, in a season were the Hammers have been unable to emulate their success from last season.

Ozil has been somewhat lacklustre in the Premier League this season registering only 1 assist in 13 matches so far for Arsene Wenger's side.
