The Open 2016: Danny Willett’s official scorer almost missed start of round because they were locked in the toilet with the runs

Person responsible for tracking shots for group was so nervous their bowel movements were unstoppable at Royal Troon

DANNY WILLETT'S official scorer was so nervous they almost missed the start of his round because they were locked in a toilet with the runs.

Masters champion Willett was in one of the marquee groups of the first day at Troon alongside world No 1 Jason Day and American star Rickie Fowler.

The task of the scorer is to record each stroke a player makes and relay it back to officials.

But a replacement almost had to be called from the stand beside the first tee after the person assigned to the group failed to show for the 9.25am start time.

And it turned out that they were so worried about messing up on the biggest stage in golf that they were stuck in a toilet with bowel movements associated with an attack of the nerves.
