Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston serves up Arby’s as he lands bumper sponsorship deal with meat sandwich giants
Charismatic golfer snapped up by quick-service meat sandwich company in most appropriate sponsor ever
ANDREW 'BEEF' JOHNSTON has signed a sponsorship deal with meat worshippers Arby's following his antics in The Open.
The charismatic Londoner, 27, shot into the public eye following his Royal Troon appearance, where he was followed by an adoring crowd of fans roaring 'BEEF!' after every shot.
And Stateside sandwich firm Arby's have swooped to sign Johnston up to a sponsorship deal which saw him serving up grub to hungry New Yorker's.
During his often bizarre appearance at The Open, 'Beef' revealed that somebody kept shouting 'Caeser salad' at him during a third round which saw him close in on the leading pack.
Despite falling from contention with a +2 in his final 18 holes, the Englishman finished in eighth place and won a legion of fans for his toothy grin and brave strokeplay.
In an exclusive interview with SunSport, Beef had revealed how he tried to keep up with Jon Daly in a drinking competition - and ended up slumped by a swimming pool in his pants.
He said: "We were having lunch and I had a beer… then that turned into three, four, five and six and then they brought out this big bucket of booze.
“Then we decided to head back to his hotel and we whipped out the whisky. And then that was it!
“I don’t know what time it was, man, but I was by the pool in my pants. My girlfriend, Louise, was shouting for me to go to bed.
“But I was just out there shouting, ‘Ahhh!’ with just my pants on! Apparently I just ended up staggering out.”
