Ryder Cup 2016: Ian Poulter takes classic £400,000 Ferrari F40 for a spin as injured ace prepares for Ryder Cup vice-captain duties
World No 110 is a huge car fanatic and keeps another four bright red Ferrarris at his sprawling Florida mansion
IAN POULTER loves fast cars almost as much as he loves golf.
And the Ryder Cup vice-captain decided to let off some steam on Sunday by taking one of his most beloved motors for a quick spin round the streets.
Poulter is a huge car fanatic, but it appears the apple of his eye is his vintage £400,000 Ferrari F40.
And the 40-year-old showed off his wild side on Instagram as he revved up the vehicle’s powerful engine.
Going through the gears as the Ferrari sped along, Poulter roared: “Haha! Love it. What a machine. The whistle as it goes through the turbos.
“Just listen to this thing. The noise is a joke. Just love this car, it’s absolutely incredible.”

Earlier in the day, Poulter revealed to followers that he was planning to put the machine through its paces, saying: “I think its time to stretch the F40’s legs a little. Perfect evening for it. @ferrari at it best [sic]. Iconic Supercar.”
Poulter’s F40 is just one of five red Ferraris he owns, with more cars parked up at his 10,000-plus-square-foot mansion in Florida.
The world No 110 splashed £200,000 on a 458 Speciale Aperta earlier this year while also paying to have a 275 fully restored.
And Poulter will be hoping his motor skills put him in good stead for the upcoming Ryder Cup – even though he has been ruled out through injury.
