Record-breaking horse Into Mischief hits £15MILLION winnings mark as offspring rack up win after win
INTO MISCHIEF is into the money as he overtook Tapit's single season earnings record after another of his offspring picked up a winner's cheque.
Life Is Good picked up his first victory running at Del Mar moving Into Mischief's year winnings to £15,013,335.43, overtaking the record set in 2016 of £14,999,869.23.
And with 38 days of the year left, there is still time to rake in even more dough before January 1.
General manager of Spendthrift Farm, who own Into Mischief, Ned Toffey said: "Now Into Mischief is going to that next level and proving himself as a sire of sires.
"We're running out of superlatives."
On overtaking Gainesway's Tapit's earnings he added: "Tapit is a wonderful sire, so to eclipse his record is something special.
"To have these kinds of numbers, you have to be consistent and you have to be brilliant. Into Mischief just gets one good runner after another."
Into Mischief is the top sire of 2020 with 174 winners, 28 black-type winners and 58 black-type performers, and is the co-leader of Grade 1 winners with three.
Toffey added: "Early on in his career, we used to talk about what this horse could accomplished if he could keep up his numbers with bigger books and they're pretty close."
Into Mischief has two Grade 1 runners this week Owendale, who is running at Churchill Downs, and Lane Way, who is running at Del Mar.
