Rivet could head to Doncaster
William Haggas' two-year-old caught the eye of many when winning a strong maiden at York and there is now a chance he could head to Doncaster for the Champagne Stakes
Rivet is in the frame for the At The Races Champagne Stakes at Doncaster next month after he bossed a York maiden on Friday.
William Haggas' youngster earned favourable quotes for next year's Investec Derby at Epsom following his three-and-a-quarter-length verdict in a strong-looking race over seven furlongs.
Rivet, a son of Fastnet Rock, is entered in the Middle Park Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket, but he might firstly be tried in Group Two company back in Yorkshire on September 10.
"He's a very nice horse and won really well at York," said Haggas.
"He's in all the right races, but there'd be a chance he will head to Doncaster."
