Lady and Queen do battle
Lowther winner Queen Kindly and Queen Mary winner Lady Aurelia are two of the top juveniles this season and will feature in a fascinating contest on the Rowley Mile
FRANKEL's talented daughter Queen Kindly and American speedster Lady Aurelia are on course for a fascinating clash in the Connolly's Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 24.
The Richard Fahey-trained Queen Kindly gave Frankel his first Group Two success in his first season as a sire when winning the Lowther Stakes at York last month.
That race had been won by both her dam Lady Of The Desert in 2009 and grand dam Queen's Logic in 2001.
They both went on to contest the Cheveley Park Stakes, with Lady Of The Desert third and Queen's Logic being successful.
"Queen Kindly is in good order. She is progressing physically and mentally the whole time," said Fahey.
"She would be as quick as any two-year-old I have ever had and has been a natural from day one. I haven't really had to train her - she's done it herself.
"We gave her a little bit of a break after the Lowther but we are stepping up her work again now and everything is going according to plan.
"She's from a wonderful fillies family and is bred to run in the Cheveley Park Stakes. There is no reason at all to think that the six furlongs of the Rowley Mile will not suit her.
"Lady Aurelia was really impressive at Royal Ascot - she put up the two-year-old performance of the week - and though she was not so impressive in France it was still a solid performance.
"It will be great to take her on and it's something that I'm really looking forward to."
Wesley Ward's Lady Aurelia has been stabled in Newmarket since crossing the Atlantic for a second time to land the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville in France, following on from her sensational performance in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The Freddy Head-trained Alrahma, a close second to Lady Aurelia at Deauville, is also among 21 fillies standing their ground for the £180,000 six-furlong showpiece.
Among Aidan O'Brien's team is Roly Poly, winner of the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket and then second to Queen Kindly at York.
