Orewa set to have his sights raised
Brian Ellison's juvenile put in an impressive performance at the Curragh when bagging the valuable sales race on Irish Champions Weekend, a trip to Redcar could now be on the cards
THE totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar on October 1 is the likely next port of call for Orewa following his lucrative success at the Curragh last Sunday.
After winning his first two starts at Beverley, the Brian Ellison-trained juvenile was beaten into third place on his final appearance of the spring at Pontefract.
Having blown away the cobwebs on his return from a break at York, Orewa resumed winning ways back at Beverley before an impressive display in a sales race on Irish Champions Weekend.
Ellison said: "He did it well and I think being gelded has been the making of him, as he was a bit of a lad.
"We gelded him after he ran at Pontefract and then he improved a lot for his first run back at York.
"He was impressive at Beverley and Chris (Hayes) was very impressed with him on Sunday. I thought he had it won a long way out.
"He'll go to the Redcar race now and then we'll probably put him away.
"He stayed the six furlongs well, but he's a horse with plenty of speed."
