LIMATO DILEMMA

Limato has options after Foret win

Henry Candy's stable star could either contest the Sprint or the Mile and a decision will be made in the near future as to whether he heads to America or not

HARRY Bentley would slightly favour a crack at the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint over the Mile at Santa Anita for Limato.

However, Bentley would have no qualms about Limato's stamina should trainer Henry Candy and owner Paul Jacobs decide on the longer race.

Limato showed his versatility once more at Chantilly on Sunday, when strolling to victory in the Prix de la Foret, the fourth different distance at which he has contested a Group One this season.

"He blew them away pretty easily, it was pretty sensational," Bentley told Betfred TV.

"He came into the race in fantastic form and felt absolutely brilliant leading up to it.

"I was well aware he was the horse to beat but you still have to go and win the race. I was conscious being drawn one I wanted a run off the rail and it panned out well.

"The Breeders' Cup is a tricky one. Personally I'd lean toward the six-and-a-half (furlongs) Sprint but I can also see the case for the Mile as well.

"If I had to chose right now I'd probably go for the Sprint.

"If he went for the Mile I'd have no doubt about his stamina, he ran a great race in the Lockinge when it was no secret Mr Candy's horses weren't quite 100 per cent but he still ran a huge race.

"I don't think it's fair to say he doesn't stay a mile and if he'd get it anywhere it would be round the tight turns of Santa Anita."

Candy told At The Races: "To make a journey like that we'll have to decide within a week or 10 days.

"I just don't want to see him get woolly, he just looks a bit rusty on his neck but the rest of him looks OK."
