PHOENICIANA has been hammering on the door with a third and two seconds from her three spins over hurdles. Just about her best of those runs was her latest when going down by a length at Lingfield last month. She likes this trip and the soft ground will also suit.

ROYAL SALUTE is looking for a hat-trick of wins over course and distance after two solid victories in similar conditions. He had almost three lengths to spare 14 days ago so a 5lb rise in the weights looks fair enough.

HOLBROOK PARK looks ready to win again after a solid second at Uttoxeter last time out. That was over just shy of 3m and he was leading until the closing stages so this trip in distance looks a wise move. He won’t mind the ground and goes off the same mark.

GARDINERS HILL has hit a rich vein of form and has every chance of landing his fourth win on the bounce here. This slight drop in distance after winning at Hereford last time holds no fears, nor does the soft ground. He gets on well with today’s 5lb claiming jockey which is another plus.

WISHICOULD is interesting making her handicap debut over a much longer trip than her novice events. She wasn’t asked too many questions when third at Newbury last time when the impression was she could have finished closer to the pace. She won over this sort of distance in the pointing field which is another plus.

WORK didn’t get the run of the race when third here last time out and was allowed to come home pretty much in her own time. She liked the soft ground that day and shapes like there will be a lot more to come.
