PLUMPTON TIPS

2.00
CIGARISI does it in the opener. Philip Hobbs’ five-year-old has made a good start to his hurdling career with a close-up fifth at Taunton and a solid third at Exeter last time out. Those runs were both over this sort of trip and he’s gone well in good and soft ground. He wouldn’t have to improve to get off the mark here.
2.35
BAGGING TURF hit the turf at Wincanton last time but had earlier won really well on her chasing debut at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. That win was on similar ground to today’s and she looks on a fair mark. We are taking a slight gamble on her not feeling the effects of that tumble but most of her rivals need it bottomless and we’re not likely to get that here.
3.05
KAYFLIN seems to get on well with today’s claiming rider and he steered her to victory over course and distance two starts ago. She’s 8lb higher in the weights for that success but this race doesn’t look any stronger than the one she won.

Plumpton 4.05: Coolking

3.35
SHIMBA HILLS clearly loves this course and distance, having won over it on her past two outings. Okay, the handicapper is catching up a little now but a 5lb rise for winning here last month looks more than fair. She goes in any ground and has every chance of landing the hat-trick.
4.05
COOLKING has a 7lb penalty for winning by 23 lengths at Lingfield last time where he stamina came right into play. He earlier won at the same track over this trip so won’t mind dropping back today. He won’t mind the cut in the ground and a repeat of either of his two last efforts would be more than good enough for this.
4.35
QUINCY MAGOO showed some positive signs when upped to this distance at Fakenham last time out. He came home fourth there and might have finished closer had he been put into the race sooner. He has had a little nudge down the weights from the handicapper and that, along with the benefit of experience, could make all the difference.
