ALL-WEATHER CRAZY

Matt Chapman’s racing tips for ITV’s racing from Lingfield and Newcastle on Friday, April 14

Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV's Matt Chapman runs you through the cards on Good Friday

Matt Chapman is the face of racing on ITV - and is here to pick you a winner

THIS blog enjoyed a fine Grand National - with four selections in the big race we managed to claim the first two home and make a tidy profit. Oh yes.

Good Friday, however, is all about the all-weather with decent cards at both Lingfield and Newcastle on ITV4.

Let's start at Lingfield, and the 2.10pm is the Marathon over nearly two miles. I'll have a few quid each-way on WINNING STORY, who didn't quite have the pace of Watersmeet last time.

In this bigger field and likely stronger pace I hope he'll run well for Silvestre De Sousa.

It's the Fillies' and Mares' over seven furlongs at 2.40pm, and the one I like is MUFFRI'HA, who is perfectly boxed in stall one to get a good position. Cheekpieces should just spark her up back in trip for William Haggas.

We go sprinting over six furlongs at 3.10pm, and I like the look of LANCELOT DU LAC, who is better berthed than Pretend who needs to bounce back to his best. The selection was unlucky in this last year from a terrible draw for Dean Ivory.

The 3.40pm is the Mile, and Ennaadd will be hard to beat after a break. However I like SOVEREIGN DEBT as an each-way alternative.

He was desperately unlucky when third last time and has a good draw here. Hard to keep out the frame for Ruth Carr.

Then it's a conditions race for three-year-olds at 4.10pm, and SECOND THOUGHT really does look the one to beat for Haggas again.

Unbeaten this season, the selection is getting better and better and has a perfect plot draw in 5.

Finally at Lingfield it's the Classic at 4.40pm, and it's hard to believe CONVEY won't take all the beating for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore.

This five-year-old looked better than ever when winning here last time.

Over at Newcastle, the 2.55pm is a tricky handicap over seven furlongs. I'll have a small each-way bet on MUTAMID for Ismail Mohammed. My hope has nothing in hand of the handicapper but is consistent and likely to run a race.

There's another nightmare at 3.25pm, and this trip gives GOOD RUN a fine each-way chance for Godolphin.

Matt Chapman's TV Tips

  • 2.10 Lingfield - WINNING STORY
  • 2.40 Lingfield - MUFFRI'HA
  • 2.55 Newcastle - MUTAMID
  • 3.10 Lingfield - LANCELOT DU LAC
  • 3.25 Newcastle - GOOD RUN
  • 3.40 Lingfield - SOVEREIGN DEBT
  • 3.55 Newcastle - SOUTH SEAS
  • 4.10 Lingfield - SECOND THOUGHT
  • 4.40 Lingfield - CONVEY

Blinkers may help this four-year-old dropped in trip for Godolphin. Might outstay a few of these.

Finally there's a conditions event over a mile at 3.55pm. I like the look of SOUTH SEAS, who really impressed at Windsor last season. He ran in the Dewhurst and wasn't beaten far. He's the class act for me.

So best of luck everyone as we go all-weather crazy! Yeeehaaa!
