Racing Tips – How to bet £10 on Saturday’s racing with Templegate’s Tenner
Fancy a bet on today's races at Sandown and Haydock? Here's the best way to spend your tenner on the races!
IT’S the last day of school for the jumps boys today.
I wonder if the jockeys get to bring their favourite games in to crank the excitement up to fever pitch before the action gets under way.
Maybe Richard Johnson comes in with his Subbuteo set tucked under his arm.
Or Tommy Scu and Sammy Twist get there nice and early for a quick game of Kerplunk.
It’s hard to imagine Trivial Pursuit being the game of choice – they’d probably be there a fortnight trying to get enough pieces of pie to even feed a weighing room of wasting jockeys.
Dental boss Sam Waley-Cohen is a bit long in tooth to be fiddling around with Buckaroo but I reckon he’ll get his fun in the Bet365 Gold Cup.
He won this race 12 months ago on THE YOUNG MASTER (3.35) and he’s a good bet to retain this great end-of-season Sandown pot.
His dislike of the Grand National fences has cost him this season but his sixth in the Ultima Chase at Cheltenham was promising enough. I’m expecting him to be spot-on today.
Earlier on the card I fancy MENORAH (2.25) to land the Oaksey Chase for an astonishing fourth straight year and I’ll be throwing a few quid at Champion Chase hero SPECIAL TIARA (3.00) against Altior in the Celebration Chase.

But my best bet is over at Haydock. Now I’ve never wanted to be a VIP before.
Getting access to a roped off area in some over-hyped nightclub might be some people’s idea of fun.
Footballers throwing cash around the equivalent of the GDP of a mid-sized Pacific Island to buy magnums of champagne when they can’t tell the difference between Pol Roger and a can of Tizer might impress some.
At least EL VIP (2.05) might pay for some of the bubbly.
Templegate's tenner
£4 win El Vip
£3 double El Vip and Home Of The Brave
£3 win The Young Master
He won two of his four starts last season and always looked likely to do better this year.
His promising Bath return confirmed that impression and he should be sharper today.
He’s my best bet of the day.
I’m also keen on HOME OF THE BRAVE (4.05) at Leicester. He won the King Richard III Stakes last season and I reckon a repeat is on the cards.
With him and The Young Master it looks like I’m expecting more repeats than a night in with UK Gold. You Betcha.
