QIPCO 2,000 Guineas 2017 – Richard Hannon’s Barney Roy in top form for Newmarket
Hannon's three-year-old looked top class when winning the Greenham at Newbury and he looks set to give favourite Churchill a run for his money at Newmarket
RICHARD HANNON believes Barney Roy can Thunder to Classic glory tomorrow.
Godolphin's three-year-old scorched the turf at Newbury when landing the Greenham last month.
Now Hannon is hoping he can deliver his second 2,000 Guineas win after Night Of Thunder's success in 2014.
The Everleigh trainer said: "We've been delighted with Barney Roy since his win at Newbury.
"He is one of the most exciting horses we've had here for some time. But he always has been. Even as a two-year-old before he ran he's always been a bit different.

"He's a pleasure to train, very straightforward and, mentally, he's happy as Larry. The good ones normally are.
"We hope he will end up being a multiple Group 1 winner. He just has to go out there and prove it."
Barney Roy faces just nine rivals at Newmarket, the smallest Guineas field since Doyoun's 1988 win.
