IT'S Day three of the Chester May meeting, and time to try and take a few more quid off the bookies with four races shown live on ITV4.

The opener is an extended 7f handicap at 1.50pm, and I'm lumping on EL HAYEM, who could be chucked in here for Sir Michael Stoute and Andrea Atzeni.

This column banged in the Spring Cup winner Banksea, and El Hayem was back in a close sixth that day. From a good draw he has a great chance.

Next up is the Listed Dee Stakes over an extended 1m2f at 2.25pm. No surprises here as the Aidan O'Brien CLIFFS OF MOHER will surely take all the beating.

The selection looked good in a Leopardstown maiden and is sure to enjoy this longer trip being by Galileo.

More tricky is the 5f handicap at 3.00pm where the draw is crucial. I'm on COPPER KNIGHT each-way here.

He is a course and distance winner and ran well at Ripon last time for Tim Easterby. He should have every chance of at least reaching the frame.

Matt Chapman's TV Tips

  • 1.50 Chester - El Hayem
  • 2.25 Chester - Cliffs Of Moher
  • 3.00 Chester - Copper Knight
  • 3.35 Chester - Red Verdon

And finally it's one of my favourite races, the Group 3 Ormonde, at 3.35pm over 1m5f. I'm taking a chance on RED VERDON, who tackled some of the best last season and wasn't beaten far in the Irish Derby.

Pat Smullen is a great booking, and if he's ready for Ed Dunlop he has an each-way chance. Clearly the draw is nasty, but I'll take the risk.

So best of luck once again. Let's hear those Yeeehaaas!
