Deauville and Ryan Moore land the Huxley Stakes at Chester for trainer Aidan O’Brien
Aidan O'Brien's four-year-old jumped quickly from the stalls and kept on finding up the home straight under Moore to hold off the late challenge of Poet's Word at Chester
VICTORY never looked in doubt as Ryan Moore steered Deauville to glory in the Huxley Stakes at Chester.
The 6-4 favourite jumped well to make all and find more in the home straight to deny the challenge of Poet's Word.
The winning distance may have only been a neck, but Aidan O'Brien's four-year-old looked to be finding plenty to keep his rival at bay.
Moore said: "He jumped a length, a length and a half, quicker than them all.
"He was able to control the race. He loves fast ground and is a good-moving horse."
O'Brien said: "I'm delighted with him and Ryan was delighted with him as well.
"He's obviously in all the races. We can look at the Curragh (Tattersalls Gold Cup), we can look at (Royal) Ascot - he's a very versatile horse.
"A mile and a quarter is probably as far as he wants to go, but he's a very professional and very straightforward and sound horse.
"We'll try and pick a race for him and split them all up if we can.
"Ryan gave him a beautiful ride."
