Matt Chapman’s racing tips for ITV’s racing from York on Friday, May 19
Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV's Matt Chapman runs you through a busy Friday
IT'S not been a great Dante meeting for this column, with winners hard to find, although York was a lovely place to be yesterday!
However, I've got one more day to save myself so fingers crossed Friday goes a little better!
The ITV4 cameras kick off with a Listed fillies' event for 2yo over 5f at 2.20pm.
Only a handful have a realistic chance on paper, and I like the look of MAIN DESIRE, who is bred to stay further in time which might be useful in the still testing conditions.
Michael Bell used to send out plenty of juvenile winners, and this could be a real Royal Ascot type.
The 2.55pm is the Listed Michael Seely Memorial (to most of us) over nearly 1m, and there's no doubt in my mind the one to beat is DANCING BREEZE from the John Gosden stable.
She impressed at Newmarket first time and might upset some more experienced rivals with natural pace.
It's the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup at 3.30pm over nearly 1m6f, and I'll have a few quid on SIMPLE VERSE, who is going to love conditions.
The 2015 St Leger heroine was in good form last season and this is a very winnable prize for a Classic victor.
Hopefully Ralph Beckett has her ready for in-form Oisin Murphy.
Matt Chapman's TV Tips
- 2.20 York - Main Desire
- 2.55 York - Dancing Breeze
- 3.30 York - Simple Verse
- 4.05 York - Gibbs Hill
Finally, ITV close York's Dante fixture with a handicap over nearly 1m4f at 4.05pm.
It's not original, but GIBBS HILL could be still well handicapped for Roger Varian, and should be hard to beat in conditions he appears to love.
If there is any more rain he will enjoy that too.
So let's hope we end Day 3 with a bang - or at least a winner! Yeeehaaa!
