Racing Tips – Top Tipster Steve Mullen’s best racing selections for Thursday, May 25
Steve Mullen guides you through Thursday's racing from Sandown, Goodwood, Catterick, Warwick and Chelmsford
GOODWOOD
2.00
William Buick will have had the pick of the two Godolphin newcomers and has gone for MASAR.
Both come from the in-form Charlie Appleby team and both should like this distance as a juveniles. The betting might be the ultimate guide.
2.35
GOSSIPING has the all-important course win to his name as Goodwood is not for every horse.
He won well in a big field here 19 days ago when the 7f distance was right up his street. The decent ground suits and a 3lb rise in the weights shouldn’t stop him going in again.
3.10
OCTOBER STORM couldn’t have been any more impressive when winning here last time out. It was a typical Goodwood race where he had to wait for gaps and picked up really well when he got his opportunity.
That was over 1m6f but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t relish this step up in trip as he matures. A 5lb rise in the weights looks fair too.
3.45
ELDRITCH has created a really good impression on his two runs to date, particularly when winning his comeback at Doncaster last month.
The official winning margin was less than two lengths but there seemed to be a lot left in the tank. He still looks well handicapped on 86 and should go close if handling this track.
4.20
ICESPIRE didn’t get the run of the race when beaten a short-head at Ascot on her seasonal comeback. But it was still an excellent effort and she would have won with a clearer passage.
The step up from a mile to 1m2f looks ideal and there is plenty of improvement to come. Fellow Frankel filly Mori has a similar profile and both look worth following.
4.55
ANGEL’S QUEST may not come from as smart connections as some of her rivals here but she looked to have plenty of ability when third on debut at Lingfield.
She looks certain to be suited by this longer distance because there was plenty left crossing the line over 7f.
5.25
QUITE A STORY has dropped to the same mark that saw her win over course and distance in August. She clocked a good time in the process and clearly loves it around here.
Her solid third at Windsor last time will leave her spot-on fitness wise and she should go close.
