Royal Ascot 2017 – Lady Aurelia bolts up in the King’s Stand Stakes for trainer Wesley Ward
Lady Aurelia showed her liking for Ascot once again as she stormed to success in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes with Profitable home in second
LADY AURELIA left Ascot stunned once again as she bolted up in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Last year, Lady Aurelia won the Queen Mary Stakes by seven lengths, and while it was a smaller margin this year, it was even more impressive.
She showed electric speed from the gates before quickening in the final furlong to put the race to bed.
Last year's winner Profitable ran well in second with favourite Marsha home in third place.
Winning jockey John Velezquez said: "It's unfortunate for Frankie and a bad situation for him, but she was spectacular.
"I gave her a little break in the first half of the race and then when I asked her to run she responded, that doesn't always happen.
