SALISBURY REPEAT

Zonderland to aim for Salisbury Sovereign repeat

The four-year-old is to be aimed at the Group Three prize he won 12 months ago after soft ground prevented him running in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

ZONDERLAND will make his seasonal reappearance in the totepool Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury later this month provided conditions are suitable.

Trainer Clive Cox is to aim the four-year-old at the Group Three prize which he won 12 months ago after soft ground forced him to shelve plans of an outing in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday.

The Cheveley Park Stud-owned son of Dutch Art has not been seen since finishing second in the Celebration Mile at the Sussex track last August.

Cox said: "It is a big shame Zonderland could not run in the Sussex Stakes and I would say the Sovereign Stakes is a logical step from here.

"He had a bit of a tricky spring, but I am pleased to say he is on song now. It is a shame he couldn't run at Goodwood, but the weather is out of our control.

"We will take it one step at a time with him, but he did run a blinder in the Celebration Mile last year so he may go for that again after Salisbury."
