His latest third behind Stradivarius at Glorious Goodwood was another career best.

Elsworth has a good record in the race and is hoping his luck has not run out after winning the Group 2 contest with Persian Punch in 2000 and Gold Medallist in 2004.

  • NAP 7.25 Nottingham - Sitar: 'Last month’s success has worked out really well and she’s looked a sprinter going places'
  • NEXT BEST 4.15 Ffos Las - Bianca Minola: 'He had some decent form last year and the return to 1m4f should help'
  • TREBLE 5.00 Thirsk - Eyreborn: 'Made a promising debut and she should be much sharper today'

Elsworth said: "I've got him in over in France. There was the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury but I think he will be better off in the Kergorlay.

"It's a race I've been lucky in a few times so we will see if we can get a repeat win in it.

"I won it with Gold Medallist, who I then sold to Philip Hobbs to go jumping, and old Persian Punch won it as well so I don't know whether we have already exhausted our chances.

"He holds several of them (rivals) on form. When you look at the weight for age he comes out quite favourably. He appears to be well and is progressive."
