Racing Tips – Top Tipster Steve Mullen’s best racing selections for Friday, August 25

Steve Mullen guides you through Friday's racing from York, Newmarket, Ffos Las, Goodwood, Salisbury and Hamilton

Dal Harraild

YORK

1.55

GAME STARTER has every chance of landing a hat-trick after two good wins at Newmarket.

The first of those came over a mile and he needed every yard of it to win narrowly.

He stepped up markedly on that form when scooting in over 1m2f on the July course last time out.

A 10lb rise in the weights for that looks fair and he’s clearly on the upgrade.

Al Neksh was out of sorts when beaten at Newmarket last time and has been given almost two months off since.

He was a solid second in a big-field handicap on his last visit to York and goes off the same mark today.

2.25

DAL HARRAILD looks capable of making his mark in Cup races and won with plenty left in the tank over 1m6f here earlier in the season.

He’s had just one race since and was far from disgraced in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last time, dropped back in distance. He’s proven on the track and goes in any conditions.

Dartmouth finished ahead of him when they met in May and was again a place ahead in the Hardwicke.

He’s not raced since then and there won’t be a lot between them here.

3.00

SUEDOIS looked better than ever when finishing a close-up third in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time out.

He has been holding his own in better contests than this, including when going close in a Curragh Group 2 three starts ago.

He is best over this trip and handles any ground. This looks wide open but he should be on the premises.

Rusumaat battled on well to win at Newbury last time and is likely to make a bold bid from the front.

He has a chance, while Don’t Touch is better than he showed at Newcastle last time and has few miles on the clock this season.

3.35

This should be an exciting clash between LADY AURELIA and Battaash with the American filly just fancied to get the job done.

She needed only hands and heels when winning at Royal Ascot last time and she goes well fresh. The bit of cut in the ground won’t be a problem and she looks hard to beat.

Battaash took a big step forward when winning at Goodwood last time and will be no pushover. He travelled like a superstar there to win easily.

It looks tough for anything else to land a blow should they run up to form.

Steve Mullen's star bet

2.25 York - Dal Harraild: 'He’s proven on the track and goes in any conditions'

4.15

GABR didn’t do a lot wrong on debut as he finished a close second in a fair Newmarket maiden.

He gave the impression there that a step up from 6f would help and the experience should bring improvement too.

4.50

MOJITO landed his second win on the spin when cruising home at Newmarket last time out.

That was over a slightly shorter distance but he wasn’t stopping and has gone well over this trip before.

The handicapper has shoved him up 7lb for that success but he can take that in his stride.
