Royal Ascot hero Ribchester among the stars on show as top northern yards open their doors for Malton festival

Richard Fahey one of 16 top stables available for racefans to visit on fun-packed Malton training centre open day to raise funds for charity

THE North Yorkshire training powerhouse of Malton opens its doors on Sunday September 17.

 

Stars of the track such as Ribchester, Top Notch Tonto and Definitly Red will be on parade as some of the biggest names in northern Flat and jumps racing give racefans a peek behind the scenes.

The Malton Festival of Racing, organised by Racing Welfare and sponsored by Arena Racing, promises to be a brilliant day out for all the family - under-16s even get FREE admission.

 

Richard Fahey will take the wraps off multiple Group 1-winner and Royal Ascot hero Ribchester at his Musley Bank yard, as well as top trainers Brian Ellison, Mick Easterby giving visitors a look around their stables.

Highlight of the day is set to be the jockeys' showjumping relay at Fahey's stables.

The showdown between the Flat and jump jockeys features former champ Paul Hanagan, Grand National-winner Derek Fox, Sammy-Jo Bell and Henry Brooke.

 

The day also features a dog show, a horse-hopper race and much more.

 

 

Funds raised through the event will support Racing Welfare’s services in Malton as well as the Injured Jockeys' Fund’s Jack Berry House and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
