Horse racing tips: Newbury, Newton Abbot and Newcastle – Steve Mullen’s top betting preview for Friday, September 22

Steve Mullen guides you through Friday's racing from Newbury, Newton Abbot and Newcastle

NEWBURY

1.20

JAWWAAL has shown plenty of promise on his first two runs and went well here over 7f last time out. He showed lots of zip there so this drop back in distance looks a smart move.

One of the newcomers could come in for support but he’s the pick of those with a recent run.

1.50

BESHAAYIR caught the eye when beaten in a bobbing finish on debut over course and distance last time out. She came with a really strong run and was in front just past the line.

She should improve for that and looks a major player.

2.25

LETHAL LUNCH had to go down as an unlucky loser when fourth at Sandown last time out.

He shaped really well after a break there and might well have won but for meeting trouble in running.

He’s at home over this distance and looks on a winnable mark.

2.55

DANEHILL KODIAC was beaten just a length in a Kempton Group 3 last time on the back of a convincing win at Newmarket where he looked better than a handicapper.

He likes this distance and Ryan Moore is an interesting booking for the Hannon yard.

3.30

WHITE MOCHA won on his debut at Haydock and went close last time at Salisbury, having to settle for second in a tight finish.

He likes this mile distance and should take another sizeable step forward here.

4.00 - Mullen's star bet

DREAM OF DREAMS impressed when scooting in at Lingfield last time, with an easy five lengths to spare over his rivals.

That was over this distance and he goes well in any ground. He has few miles on the clock this season and there could be a lot more to come.

4.35

LAMYA looks the one to beat after a convincing victory at Windsor last time out. That was just her second racecourse run and there was no messing about as she went from the front.

There are some nice newcomers including Frankel filly Veracious, but she sets the standard.

5.05

CRUSHED enjoyed this distance when winning well at Windsor last time.

The ground was on the soft side that day but he’s gone well in quicker conditions and a 6lb rise in the weights looks more than fair.
