Horse racing tips: How to bet £10 on Saturday’s racing with Templegate’s Tenner
Fancy a bet on today's racing? Here's the best way to spend your tenner on the races!
THE CLASH famously Fought The Law. The Law won.
Now I’m happy to say I’ve not taken to fisticuffs with our ‘boys in blue’. When it came to Saturday night bother I always made sure I had my best trainers on. No one could out run me in those.
Although one of my pals came close one night. He’d been to a fancy dress party and got the shock of his life when picked up by the police while walking home.
Sadly for him – hilarious for the rest of us down the ‘battle cruiser’ the following night – he was dressed as a robber complete with mask, stripy jumper and swag bag.
Unable to talk his way out of a night in the cells he decided not to fight the law. The law always wins.
I’m hoping that will continue today.

Law And Order (3.25) hasn’t won since taking a Lingfield Listed contest in April. Plenty have fought the Law and won. Today the Law will get his own back.
He was last in the 2,000 Guineas but that showed how highly trainer James Tate thought of him.
Since stepping up in distance from a mile he’s been stuck in races run at a steady gallop. There’s plenty of pace in today’s race and I reckon he’ll arrest his run of defeats.
Earlier on the card I fancy James Garfield (2.50) – named after the cartoon cat not the US president, obviously – in the Mill Reef Stakes.
The last two winners of this race – Harry Angel and Ribchester – both went on to win multiple Group 1 races so this year’s scorer has plenty to live up to.

I reckon that challenge will face James Garfield. He hit the frame in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot before bolting up by six lengths at Doncaster.
His fourth behind top prospect Expert Eye in the Vintage Stakes was a sound effort and he was nutted on the line when kept to seven furlongs in the Acomb at York.
The drop to six furlongs is ideal and he’s already shown he’s operating at this sort of level.
My other Newbury facies are reliable Second Step (2.15) and Cotai Glory (4.00).
Soggy Ayr failing to get their card on means the TV cameras switch to Newmarket.
Templegate's tenner
- £3 win Law And Order
- £2 win Time To Study
- £2 win James Garfield
- £1 win Cotai Glory
- £1 each-way acca Law And Order, Time To Study, James Garfield, Cotai Glory, Lady Bergamot
That puts the focus on the Cesarewitch Trial and I’m confident putting in the hours wading through the form book will pay off with Time To Study (3.10).
He looked a powerful galloper when winning the Mallard Handicap over 1m6f at Doncaster last week.
A typically-progressive three-year-old stayer from Mark Johnston’s Yorkshire stable, he has the ability to develop into a Cup horse next season. If that’s the case he’ll have a monster chance stepping up to a marathon trip today.
City Of Joy (2.00) and tough Lady Bergamot (2.35) should also give it a good go at Newmarket.
Hopefully they will all help us wrestle a few coppers from the bookies.
