Horse racing tips: Newbury and Newmarket on ITV – Matt Chapman’s betting preview for Saturday, September 23
Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV's Matt Chapman runs you through a busy Saturday
I'M at Ayr on Saturday for ITV. But there is no racing taking place! But hey it's a day out!
Luckily, despite Ayr being off, ITV has been quick to bring on board Newmarket as well as Newbury so there's plenty of racing to still get stuck into.
First up at Newbury is the 2.15pm, a Group 3 over 1m3f.
I want to be on MY DREAM BOAT each-way here for the top class pair of Adam Kirby and Clive Cox.
The former Group 1 winner has shown glimmers of form this season including at this track, and this is winnable for a horse like him if he brings his A game.
It's the Group 2 Mill Reef for two-year-olds at 2.50pm, and I will back NEBO each-way here despite a poor run last time. Prior to that he'd been in good form for Charlie Hills.
Matt Chapman's TV tips
- 2.00 Newmarket - Harbour Rock: 'Can get back to winning ways here'
- 2.15 Newbury - My Dream Boat: 'This is a winnable race for him'
- 2.35 Newmarket - Star Rock: 'Been off for a while but progressive prior to that'
- 2.50 Newbury - Nebo: 'Each-way chance on previous form'
- 3.10 Newmarket - Oceane: 'Has every chance of a place'
- 3.25 Newbury - Silver Ghost: 'Don't think the handicapper has quite caught up just yet!'
- 4.00 Newbury - Cotai Glory: 'A very talented horse on his day'
ITV show the 1m2f handicap at Newbury at 3.25pm, and the one I'm on each-way here is SILVER GHOST for Eve Johnson Houghton.
My selection's winning run ended last time, but he still performed well enough to suggest the handicapper has not clobbered him quite yet.
Finally at Newbury, ITV beam the Group 3 World Trophy over an extended 5f at 4.00pm, and I'm hoping COTAI GLORY comes back to his best for Hills.

He's a talented horse when he puts his mind on the job.
Over at Newmarket the 2.00pm is a handicap over 1m2f and HARBOUR ROCK has a terrific chance to get back to winning ways for Oisin Murphy and Dave Simcock.
Three seconds are a bit frustrating for supporters, but off a mark of 81 he has every chance here.
In the 2.35 at Newmarket, a handicap over 7f, I'm having a go with STAR ROCK for Hughie Morrison.
My hope has been off the track for some time, but prior to the lay off was progressive and could be well treated. Fingers crossed.
Finally there is a Cesarewitch trial over 2m2f at 3.10pm, and I'll have a few quid each-way on OCEANE for Alan King.
He was 7th last time at York but not beaten far and ran well at Ascot back in May. Every chance of a place.
So best of luck everyone. Yeeehaaa! You Betcha!
