James Garfield wins the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury racecourse
GEORGE SCOTT is certainly keeping his in-laws happy.
A week after marrying Bill Gredley’s daughter Polly he saddled James Garfield to win the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury in the veteran owner’s familiar yellow colours.
Frankie Dettori’s mount - a 100-30 shot - broke the juvenile course record to give Newmarket-based Scott his first British Group-race winner.
The 29-year-old said: “It’s been a pretty amazing week.
