MEADE DOWN DUO

Noel Meade plotting Down Royal raid with Gigginstown pair

Impressive Grade One winning chasers Road To Respect and Disko will provide Gigginstown and Noel Meade with some serious ammunition at Down Royal as the National Hunt season steps up a gear.

Road To Respect proved far too good for the rest of the field today as he secured a comfortable victory

NOEL MEADE is set to run two of the shining stars in his stable, Road To Respect and Disko, at Down Royal next weekend.

Cheltenham Festival winner Road To Respect continued last year's progression when winning the Irish Daily Star Chase at Punchestown earlier this month.

Disko, third in the JLT at Cheltenham, improved for the step up to three miles at the Punchestown Festival, running out an emphatic winner of the Growise Champion Novice Chase.

There are two suitable races for both of the Gigginstown-owned horses at Down Royal, the Grade One JNWine.com Champion Chase and the Grade Two MyCarNeedsA.com Chase over two and a half miles.

However, it hasn't yet been decided which race the duo will contest.

"At the minute it looks like both Disko and Road To Respect will run in Down Royal," said Meade.

Templegate's Treble

NAP 4.25 Carlisle - Kap Jazz: 'He has always looked likely to appreciate this trip and testing ground holds no fears'

NEXT BEST 3.35 Ludlow - Skewiff: 'Was too keen at Chepstow on her return but is expected to come on for that'

TREBLE 4.15 Southwell - Whin Park: 'He's the type to do better this term and should be nicely weighted'

"In which race, I'm not sure, but Michael (O'Leary owner of Gigginstown House Stud) is quite keen that the two of them run.

"Both are well at the minute. Road To Respect came out of the race at Punchestown good, and Disko worked (on Wednesday) and was in great form."
