Richard Fahey’s Ribchester ‘all systems go’ for final Breeders’ Cup date
He will stand at stud in 2018 but Ribchester will get a chance to leave his track career on a win in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar on November 4.
LEADING miler Ribchester has been given the go-ahead to run in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar.
Richard Fahey's stable star was beaten in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot last weekend and it was announced earlier this week that this was to be his final year on the track ahead of a career at stud in 2018.
Fahey suggested that the soft ground blunted Ribchester's speed at Ascot, with the trainer evidently keen to run the four-year-old one final time on a quick surface, a wish that appears to have been granted.
