DOSTAL PHIL cost JP McManus a fortune after winning a bumper at Deauville 12 months ago. He clearly has what it takes to go a long way over hurdles and should be hard to beat on this debut.

MODUS is one to watch rather than bet on as he starts out on a chasing career. He was a top-class handicap hurdler even though he didn’t quite hit the dizzy heights over timber. He should be much too strong for this opposition.

PENNYWELL has been off for a very long time but was a fair way ahead of horses like she faces today when last seen. This trip is ideal and her rider’s 7lb claim sees her on a very handy weight.

THE YANK is a frustrating horse because he clearly has ability but doesn’t always show it. He looked close to winning when second at Worcester last time and this isn’t any stronger. This short of trip also looks to suit.

3.05 - Mullen's Star Bet

CAVE TOP kept it simple by going from the front at Exeter last time and never looked in any trouble when recording an easy win. That was over slightly shorter but he stays well and a 7lb penalty shouldn’t put the brakes on here.

ONE FOR ROSIE comes from Nigel Twiston-Davies, who is more than capable of getting one ready for debut. He cost a fair amount for this grade and any market support would be significant.

CHEROKEE PRINCE may have been just fifth on debut but that race has worked out very well and even a 12-month absence doesn’t put you off. He comes over from Ireland with a big chance against some pretty modest looking opposition.
