ALFIE’S CHOICE (nap) came up against smart prospects Shantou Rock and Ridgeway Flyer in novices’ hurdles last season. The step up to near three miles was probably stretching it for his handicap debut so today’s trip should be ideal.
He has cheekpieces on for the first time and trainer Kim Bailey seems to have his team primed.
SAMETEGAL (2.35 Wetherby, nb) is well weighted on his smart novice form. He missed last season but he made a successful return from a similar absence a couple of years ago.
SANDY COVE (2.10 Uttoxeter, treble) had some solid form in the summer. He lost all chance with a bad blunder two from home on his debut for Olly Murphy last time and he should be able to win a race like this.
