Horse racing tips: Wetherby, Newmarket, Uttoxeter and Newcastle – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Friday November 3

There are some nice newcomers in this so watch the betting. But on known form, MAGHAWEER looked a nice prospect when finishing a close-up third at York last time. He improved for the step up to this distance and wouldn’t have to find a lot more to strike.

GARRICK came back from an eight-month break to finish less than three lengths off the pace at Windsor last time out. He seemed to stay this 1m2f trip well and, after just two runs, must be open to massive improvement for John Golden.

ONE MINUTE is worth chancing on this drop in grade with headgear on for the first time. She ran no sort of race here last time after earlier going close to winning a Group 3 at Salisbury. The drop back to this trip also looks a wise move.

SPIRITUAL LADY gets the nod in a tight race. She was good enough to win a Listed contest here last October but didn’t reappear until September when she looked very rusty. There was some improvement here last time and that, along with a drop in class, gives her every chance.

STAR STORY has shown lots of promise in three maiden runs and she looked in need of this longer distance when fourth at Epsom last time. The handicapper has been kind with an opening mark of 74 and there should be a lot more to come.

GRACEFUL LADY has had a busy season but she is holding her form well and ran a solid fifth at Newbury last time out. She was asked to come from a long way back there and it would be a good idea to keep her closer to the pace today.

SWISS STORM hated the heavy ground when third at Epsom last time and will be much happier in these quicker conditions. This son of Frankel’s best form came when winning over 7f at Haydock in September but this mile should be right up his street.
