CLAIMANTAKINFORGAN was good enough to finish third in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham and followed up with a solid fifth in the Aintree version. That’s a good pedigree and Nicky Henderson is sure to have him ready for this hurdles debut.

BENEAGLES progressed nicely last season and looks set for another prosperous campaign. He was last seen finishing fifth in decent company at Ascot on the back of a win at Huntingdon and other placed efforts. He still has few miles on the clock and this sort of trip should be ideal.

HENRI PARRY MORGAN is a bit of a rogue but this is the lowest class of race he’s run in for a while. He finished last season ninth in the Scottish Grand National at Ayr after finishing sixth in Listed company at Aintree. He has come right down the weights and is a full 16lb below the mark he carried in the Ultima at Cheltenham last term. It’s interesting to see him dropped markedly in trip and that could help too.

DAME ROSE was a high-class bumper performer who scored at Grade 2 level. She has already translated that ability to hurdling with a convincing win at Hexham on debut last time out. She travelled like a good performer there and can hold her own in better company than this.

You can throw a blanker over three-quarters of this field in terms of ability. Given that Beat That has fallen twice, TOPOFTHEGAME gets the nod over Strong Pursuit. Both have a similar profile and but the selection finished third in a Cheltenham Grade 2 in one of his three hurdles outings and may have just a little more class.
3.20
BARMAN has a fitness edge over most of these and won with something up his sleeve at Taunton last time out. He’s copped a 7lb penalty for that but his rider’s claim more than wipes that out. He goes in any ground and the trip suits.
3.55
Without any form, this is a tough nut to crack but Nicky Henderson won this 12 months ago and BURROWS EDGE looks the most likely of his pair. He cost connections a hefty sum after some placed form in Irish points and comes from a decent family. With Barry Geraghty on board, he should be ready for this debut.
