Bryony Frost wins her first Grade 1 race with Black Corton in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton racecourse

Frost was excellent once again as she steered the brave Black Corton home in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day

BRILLIANT Bryony Frost grabbed her first Grade 1 winner as she rode Black Corton to victory in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Frost has made great strides this season and she took her achievements to another level with victory in the top-level contest.

In an eventful race, Black Corton showed tremendous guts and bravery to hold off the challenge of Elegant Escape.

The race changed complexion when Mia's Storm fell at the fifth-last fence and Fountains Windfall came down four out when in front.

That left Black Corton (4-1) at the head of affairs and Paul Nicholls' six-year-old, winning for the seventh time since June, kept on gallantly win.

Frost said: "This little horse started off just an average little chap at the back of the class room but now he's an A-star student.

"It just shows if you are brave what you can achieve. I'm so proud of him.

"I live for sitting on the back of a horse and he's my hero.

"I hadn't even remembered it was a Grade 1- it's amazing."

Nicholls said: "What a fantastic ride. That's her first ride in a Grade and she's won it.

"I so nearly didn't run him as he's been off his food for a couple of days and it was only yesterday he came back on it.

"He's the most astonishing horse. This is great for everybody."
