Horse racing tips: Ascot, Haydock, Taunton, Lingfield and Chelmsford – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for the racing this Saturday, January 20
Steve Mullen guides you through Saturday's racing at Ascot, Haydock, Taunton, Lingfield and Chelmsford.
MAKE it pay day with the Bay in Ascot's 2.25.
OXWICH BAY improved by a great deal when upped to this sort of trip to win at Ffos Las last time out. This is a much tougher contest than the race in South Wales but he showed his quality at Cheltenham in November when he finished second in a deep field.
Superb young claimer Mitchell Bastyan is good value for the 5lb he takes off the six-year-old’s back and there should be lots of improvement to come.
Jenkins has a touch of class and also has a quality claimer on board — man of the moment James Bowen. He finally gave his followers something to cheer about when he won nicely at Kempton last Saturday and he will go very close if seeing out this longer distance.
Night Of Sin took a big step forward when coming home second at Exeter last time out. Nick Williams' yard is going great guns at the moment and although he goes up in class here, he still looks fairly handicapped and is still improving.
Air Horse One has a lot of weight to shoulder but is proven in this sort of race and at this track. He is another for the shortlist.
